Brainstorm natural angles that are not iterative. Angles that make your audience relate and which are easy to understand.

Letโ€™s step back a second.

What is an angle?

๐—”๐—ป ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ด๐—น๐—ฒ ๐—ถ๐˜€ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—ฎ ๐—ฝ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—บ๐—ผ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป. Itโ€™s an umbrella term. When I say, โ€œWrite a good angle,โ€ I say, โ€œWrite something that gets and keeps interest while differentiating yourself from the competition.โ€

Iโ€™ll give you an example.

Youโ€™re in the health market. Here, your mechanism makes a world of difference. This is because your prospect has tried stuff before. This stuff didnโ€™t work. So heโ€™s skeptical to try something new.

This is where your new mechanism comes in. It is KETO, fasting, taking a pill, and seeing the kilograms melt away. It must be different from everything he is familiar with, or heโ€™ll associate the failure of the known mechanism with your product.

Your mechanism isnโ€™t everything, though. Your big selling idea matters, too. This is an overarching trend thatโ€™s present in the marketplace. It can be your mechanism, but not always.

When everyone says, โ€œLose fat fast,โ€ and you say, โ€œLose fat slowly (but surely),โ€ you have a big selling idea.

When you have a celebrity endorsing your product, and you can call it the โ€œX secret to losing 15 KG and looking phenomenal inโ€ฆโ€, youโ€™ve got another strong selling idea.

John Carlton, the famous copywriter, suggests a simple way of building a solid big-selling idea. It is called โ€œ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ท๐˜‚๐˜…๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐˜€๐—ถ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ฟ๐˜‚๐—ผ๐˜‚๐˜€ ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐˜€.โ€ You put two things that donโ€™t belong side by side.

Big selling ideas and angles (and subsequently mechanisms) are high-level copywriting principles. Most beginners wonโ€™t talk about them. But theyโ€™re critical in most markets.
